About

ServeBlast's core focus was derived from frustrations relating to Ubuntu's slammed repositories just after their launch of Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron in April, 2008. For about a week following Hardy's release, it was nearly impossible to download any packages or upgrade your operating system through the repositories due to the extremely large volume of users trying to do the exact same thing.

Of course, we understood the dilemma Canonical was in -- why pay so much money to significantly upgrade your infrastructure when you're only really going to need that higher capacity two or three weeks per year? Others we know have been in similar situations.

This led us to Temporary Hosting, which quickly led us to Backup Hosting, which included this backup feature that we thought others would be interested in as a separate product, which led us to Automatic Backups.

But we quickly realized that these products are really only useful to those who have websites and who subscribe to web hosting services. So what do you do if you don't already have a website, but are interested in perhaps having one? We quickly began working on BlastHoster - web hosting for beginners.
